The Ambassador’s Mission

"A cup of coffee," said Captain Alex Leno to the replicator.
Our first mission is to pickup Ambassador Andrews. He will have further instructions for us.
Has he
finished his log, the bell to his ready room went off.
"Come in," stated Leno.
"Captain, we have a favor to ask," stated Lieutenant Commander George Parks.
"What is it?"
"We would like you to marry us, answered Lieutenant Commander Lisa Scott.
"I'll be more than welcome to do it."
"Thank you, captain," stated Parks.
They all left Captain Leno's ready. Captain Leno took his seat on the Main Bridge.
"Ensign Murphy, take us out of spacedock, thrusters," ordered Leno.
"Thrusters ready, Captain," replied Ensign Helen Murphy.
"Spacedock doors opening," stated Lieutenant Commander Larry Jones.
"Clearing spacedock," reported Murphy.
"Set course to Poly, Warp 8.5."
"Course set."
"Engage!"
"It will take us around eight hours to reach Poly."
"Good, that gives us enough time to prepare for the mission."
"Why don't you go get some sleep, since you have been up all night," suggested Commander Mike Brooks.
"That would be a great idea. It also would give me a chance to overlook the ship in detail," stated Leno.
Captain Leno left the Main Bridge to his quarters on Deck 3, where he slept for three hours. When he got up, he went to Main Engineering, on deck 16.
"Welcome to Main Engineering," stated Lieutenant Commander Peter Hall.
"Thank you very much."
"We have a very impressive ship, sir."
"I know. I can't wait to put the ship to the limits."
"We will be ready."
"I would expect nothing less."
Captain Leno left Main Engineering to Shuttlebay 1, located on Deck 5.
"Welcome to the shuttlebay," stated Scott.
"How many shuttles do we have?"
"Twenty-seven with 10 more coming next week."
“Thank you.”
Captain Leno left the shuttlebay and to the Main Bridge and sat down
"Poly is about two hours away at this speed," stated Murphy.
"No enemy ships detected on sensors," stated Jones.
"Thank you," answered Leno.
"Captain, sensors are picking up five Federation shuttlecraft," stated Brooks.
"On screen," answered Leno.
"We are here for the wedding," stated Mr. Parks.
"Come into Shuttlebay 1," stated Leno.
"Ensign Murphy, come to a stop," ordered Brooks.
"Commander Brooks, show our guests to their quarters," ordered Leno.
"I'll be in my ready room. Keep me updated," stated Leno.
"The shuttle is on board," reported Jones.
Commander Brooks had gone to the shuttlebay to greet the shuttle
crew. He showed them to their quarters. He went back to the Main Bridge.
"Resume course and speed," ordered Brooks.
Captain Leno went to his ready room. He turned on his desktop computer. He looked up Ambassador Andrews service record. He found out some interesting facts about Ambassador Andrews.
He was in his ready room for an hour and 35 minutes. He was ready to return to the Main Bridge, waiting for the mission to begin.
"Captain, planet Poly in view range," stated Jones.
"Put it on the viewer," ordered Leno.
"Have you located anything else?" asked Brooks.
"No, sir, just the planet," answered Jones.
"Continue to run scans," ordered Leno.
"Ensign Murphy, standard orbit when we reach the planet," ordered Brooks.
"We are less than 20 minutes from the planet," stated Murphy.
Captain Leno went to his ready room for a cup of coffee and to record a log.
The crew and I are very much ready for our first mission. We are ready for Ambassador Andrews to come aboard. Guest quarters have been setup for him.
He left his ready room. He took his padd with him. He sat down on the Main Bridge.
"Arriving to the planet," stated Murphy.
"Come to a complete stop." ordered Brooks.
"Contact Ambassador Andrews," ordered Leno.
"Nothing yet," reported Jones.
"Keep trying."
"I have found him," stated Jones.
"Put him on the main viewer," ordered Brooks.
"I’m ready, ‘stated Andrews.
Captain Leno and Commander Brooks left the Main Bridge to the Transporter Room located on Deck 9.
"Ambassador Andrews is ready to beam aboard," stated Lieutenant Laura Ryder.
"Energize," ordered Brooks.
"Welcome to the Texas. I am Captain Leno, this is Commander Brooks."
"Thank you captain, commander."
"Commander, will you show our guest to his quarters."
"Come this way, Ambassador,"
Chapter 2
Captain Leno went back to the bridge. While Commander Brooks showed Ambassador Andrews to his quarters located on Deck 13.
Tell the captain I will like to talk to him when he has a chance," stated Andrews.
"I will tell him as soon as I get back to the bridge."
When Commander Brooks reached the Main Bridge, he told Captain Leno, that Ambassador Andrews would like to see him.
Ambassador Andrews unpacked his belongings quickly. When he finished, he went to the bridge.
"Welcome to the Main Bridge," stated Leno.
"I'm glad to be a newly commissioned Sovereign class ship."
"Have a seat."
"Thank you," answered Andrews as he sat down next to Captain Leno.
"What do you need?" asked Leno.
"I just want to tell you that this mission could be a long mission."
"Which planet are we taking you to?"
"We are going to Amgosia. We'll have to be very careful. The planet has very destructive weapons."
"The ship and its crew will be ready," stated Brooks.
Ambassador Andrews left the Main Bridge and went to Main Engineering, where he looked around.
"Welcome Ambassador Andrews," stated Hall.
"Thank you. This is a very impressive ship. This is my first trip on a Sovereign class ship."
Ambassador Andrews headed for the lounge. He took a seat by the counter.
"Welcome, ambassador," stated Lieutenant Logan.
I would like a cup of Earl Grey tea."
"Right away."
"What kind of jobs do you do around the ship?"
"Well, I'm a security officer, a cook for special occasions, and a bartender."
"You do quite a lot."
"I'm doing what I like."
"I know what you mean by that."
"Here is your tea."
Ambassador Andrews drunk his tea as he thought of his extremely dangerous mission. He left to go back to quarters, where he relaxed.
Back on the Main Bridge, Captain Leno had set a course for Amgosia at Warp 9, he wanted this mission to begin and end as soon as possible. It would take them 23 hours to reach Amgosia at Warp 9.
We have reached Amgosia without detecting any Jem'Hadar ships.
Captain Leno left his ready room. He sat down next to Commander Brooks.
"Status report?" asked Leno.
"Everything is operating in normal conditions," answered Jones.
"Has any one seen Ambassador Andrews?" asked Leno.
"No, sir. I think he is still sleeping," answered Brooks.
"Let him sleep. He needs his rest. I don't need him right now," stated Leno.
"I'm picking up four Jem'Hadar ships on long range sensors," stated Jones.
"Are they coming toward us," asked Brooks.
"Yes. They will reach us in 15 minutes," answered Jones.
"Yellow alert."
Yellow lights went on and off all over the ship to warn the crew something could happen in the near future.
"Take us out of here, Warp 7."
"They are following us, sir. I'm locating two more ships," stated Murphy.
"There's too many ships," stated Leno.
"We could at least disable the ships," stated Brooks.
"We may have to go into battle."
Chapter 3
"The Jem'Hadar ships are three minutes away," stated Jones.
"All decks are ready to go into battle," reported Brooks.
"Continue course."
"They are no other Starfleet ships near our position," stated Brooks.
"There is no other way out, we may have to fight the Jem'Hadar," stated Jones.
"We are going into battle. Red alert," ordered Leno.
All over the ship, red lights had replaced they the yellow lights went and a klaxon went off to alert the crew that something bad was going to happen.
"Six Jem'Hadar ships powering up weapons and shielding," stated Jones.
"Lock onto the lead Jem'Hadar ship," ordered Leno.
"Thirty seconds before weapons range," reported Brooks.
"Slow to impulse," ordered Leno.
"They are hailing us," stated Jones.
"On screen."
"Surrender your ship to the Dominion, Captain," ordered Gul Hudak.
"I'm Captain Alex Leno of the USS Texas, and no I won't surrender this ship."
"I don't care who you are and what your ship is," stated Gul Hudak.
"They have cut communications. Shielding down to 89%," stated Jones.
"Fire all weapons. Find us a way out of this attack." ordered Leno.
"They are returning fire," stated Brooks.
"Losing power to Decks 5 to 9," stated Jones.
"Evacuate those decks and reroute power to needed systems."
"Decks being evacuated. Shielding at 61%," stated Jones.
"We may have a way out," stated Brooks.
"Let's do it then," answered Leno.
"Taking us out of this trap," stated Murphy.
"Impulse drive is off-line," stated Jones.
"We have cleared the ships," stated Brooks.
"Resume our original course, Warp 9. Engineering, How long before we have impulse drive?" asked Leno over the comm system,"
"They are following us at Warp 8," reported Brooks.
"A little over two hours," answered Hall.
Captain Leno left the Main Bridge to his ready room. He sat down with a cup of coffee.
We went into battle with six Jem'Hadar ships. Minor damage occurred to the impulse drive. Repairs have been completed. The Jem'Hadar are still following us. We have resumed course to Amgosia.
"Captain, Ambassador Andrews will like to see you," stated Brooks.
"Will you send him in?" asked Leno.
Ambassador Andrews sat down. He asked the replicator for a cup of tea.
"What do you need, Ambassador?" asked Leno.
"I want to tell those that the Jem'Hadar are after me."
"Why are they after you?"
"Because the Amgosians are thinking of signing a treaty with the Dominion. I'm here to change their minds. The Dominion will stop me at all costs."
"Not while you're on my ship."
Chapter 4
Captain Leno and Ambassador Andrews talked a while longer. Andrews left Leno's ready room to Sickbay located on Deck 12.
"Welcome to Sickbay," stated Doctor Steve Adams.
"Thank you, doctor. I just would like to look around."
"Go right ahead."
Ambassador Andrews took an hour to look around. He left to go to the lounge, where he ordered a cup of tea. Commander Brooks walked in.
"Hello, commander," stated Andrews.
"Hello, ambassador. How are you?"
"Fine. I'm just nervous about this mission. I've never had to do anything like this," answered Andrews.
"Would you like anything?" asked Logan.
"No thank you," answered Brooks.
"What do you need?"
"Just to let you know we will reach Amgosia in seven hours."
"Thank you, commander."
"I need to get back to the Main Bridge."
Commander Brooks went back to the Main Bridge. While Ambassador Andrews went to his quarters. He turned on his desktop computer.
He looked up his past missions. This would be his biggest mission, since Amgosia had a t least 175 ships on it that the Dominion could use against the Federation. He left his quarters to head for the Main Bridge.
When he got there, the crew was getting ready for another attack from the Dominion. The Dominion ships were gaining on the Texas.
"How far away are the Dominion ships?" asked Andrews.
"Over 900,000 kilometers," answered Jones.
"That isn't too far."
"Yellow alert," ordered Leno.
"We will arrive at Amgosia in 43 minutes," stated Murphy.
"All decks report ready for battle. Main Engineering is also ready," stated Brooks.
"I'll be back in a few minutes," stated Andrews.
Forty minutes passed before Ambassador Andrews went back to the Main Bridge. He sat down next to Captain Leno.
"What is happening?" asked Andrews.
"We're arriving to Amgosia," stated Murphy.
"Standard orbit," ordered Leno.
"We are in standard orbit."
"Contact the planet's government," ordered Brooks.
"They are not responding to our hails," stated Jones.
"Keep trying."
"They should be answering," stated Andrews.
"The Dominion ships are catching up," stated Jones.
"Red alert," ordered Leno.
"The Dominion ships have entered the orbit of Amgosia," stated Jones.
"They are starting to beam down personnel," stated Ensign Wilson.
"I have to get down to the planet. I will need two security officers," stated Andrews.
"Lieutenant Dayan," stated Leno, over the comm system.
"Yes, captain."
"You and Lieutenant Nash are to beam down to Amgosia with Ambassador Andrews. Keep phasers on stun and remain with close contact with the ship."
When the away team reached the surface, Jem'Hadar soldiers, were already down there waiting for him.
"Captain, we have made it to the surface, however, I' m picking up a dozen Jem'Hadar," stated Dayan.
"Be careful. At the first sign of trouble, return to the ship,"
Captain, the Jem'Hadar are moving towards the away team's position," stated Jones.
"Keep a close eye on those Jem'Hadar."
The Jem'Hadar kept moving closer and closer to Ambassador Andrews. They had weapons drawn. The away team also had their weapons drawn.
A few moments later, a Jem'Hadar soldier jumped out of a bush and shot down the ambassador.
"Texas, emergency transport to Sickbay. Ambassador Andrews has been shot down and is not breathing," stated Dayan.
Chapter 5
The away team was beamed directly to Sickbay. Where Doctor Adams started medical procedures on the ambassador.
"Medical tricorder," ordered Adams.
"Here it is," stated Nurse Harris.
Captain Leno and Commander Brooks walked into Sickbay and went right to Doctor Adams.
"How is he?" asked Leno.
"He isn't injured badly. We were able to get him breathing again. He will need a couple days of rest."
"Captain. the Dominion ships are hailing us," stated Jones, over the comm system.
"I'm on my way."
Captain Leno went directly to the Main Bridge.
"On screen."
"Leno, you will leave this area of space or I will be forced to destroy your ship."
"I was ordered to bring Ambassador Andrews to Amgosia. Until my ship is ordered to a different mission, we stay here."
"You have made a foolish mistake. You weren't ready to become a captain."
"They have cut communications and are charging weapons," stated Jones.
"Red alert," ordered Leno.
"They are locking weapons onto us," stated Jones.
"Prepare for impact," stated Brooks.
"Minor damage to the secondary hull. Returning fire," stated Jones.
"Captain, the USS Hubble has entered sensors," stated Murphy.
"Another Starfleet starship detected," stated Jones.
"Which one is it?" asked Leno.
"The ship is the USS Nebula," answered Murphy.
"Ready quantum torpedoes," ordered Leno.
"The Jem'Hadar on the planet are charging the planet's weapons," stated Brooks.
"Fire torpedoes," ordered Leno.
"We can't let those weapons hit us. They'll cause severe damage," stated Brooks.
"The Nebula is hailing us," stated Jones.
"On screen."
"Hello, Captain Leno," stated Captain Don Brooks.
"Hello."
"Hello, son. How have you been doing?" asked Captain Brooks.
"I have been better."
"Starfleet Command ordered the Hubble and us to help us against the Dominion ships," stated Captain Brooks.
"We need the help," stated Leno.
"The Nebula and Hubble are ready for battle," stated Jones.
"Two minutes before the other ships are in weapon range," stated Brooks.
"Slow to impulse," ordered Leno.
"The Dominion ships have left Amgosia," stated Jones.
"On screen," stated Leno.
"We being fired upon," stated Jones.
"We have damage to Deck 14," stated Jones.
"Return fire," ordered Leno.
"Aim for their weapon systems," ordered Brooks.
"The other ships are in weapon range," stated Jones.
Back in Sickbay, Doctor Jones was releasing Ambassador Andrews.
"You are free to go," stated Adams.
"Thank you, doctor."
Ambassador Andrews went to the Main Bridge. He sat down next to Captain Leno.
"The ships are leaving," stated Jones.
"Captain, with those ships leaving, I can go back to Amgosia," stated Andrews.
"Good luck, Ambassador," stated Leno.
Ambassador Andrews transported to Amgosia. He spoke directly to the leader. After three days of talking, Amgosia will remain neutral. The Nebula took Ambassador Andrews onto his next mission.
Everyone got ready for the wedding. Lieutenant Logan replicated a cake for the reception. The wedding and the reception were held on the holosuite. Commander Brooks wrote the program. Over 400 people attended.
Captain Leno performed the ceremony. After the ceremony, everybody a slice of cake. The newly married couple danced. They were going to wait a few months before going on their honeymoon. They are going to Vulcan.
My parents have left to return to Earth. Lisa's parents have also left. We will see them again in a few months.
