Chapter 1

"Captain Leno, all bridge functions have stopped and the Greek letter Omega has appeared on all display screens," reported Lieutenant Commander Jones.

I'll be in my ready room.  Send all sensor data there," ordered Leno.

Captain Leno went to his ready room, while all bridge functions returned to normal.  The news Captain Leno was receiving was not good.

"Sensors have detected the Omega phenomenon within 1.4 light-years of this vessel. Implement the Omega Directive immediately.  All other priorities have been rescinded," stated the computer.

Captain Leno went to the Main Bridge.

"We have a new mission.  All other missions have been postponed," stated Leno.

"What is the mission?" asked Jones.

"I'm not allowed to discuss it."

     "What about the medical supplies?"

"We will have to deliver the medical supplies a few days late," answered Leno.

Captain Leno went over to the Flight Control panel and typed in the coordinates of the Omega particles.

"I'll be in my ready room," stated Leno.

Captain Leno went back to his ready room and contacted Starfleet Command.

"What can I do for you?" asked Admiral Hayes.

"Sensors have located Omega 1.1 light-years from our current position," answered Leno.

"Have you implemented the Omega Directive," asked Hayes.

"Yes.  We have also set a course for it," answered Leno.

"Our nearest ship is two days away and there is much Dominion activity nearby," stated Hayes.

"Will the ship make it here?" asked Leno.

"It may take a little longer," answered Hayes.

"I'll do whatever I can to dispose of it," stated Leno.

"Good luck and be careful," stated Hayes.

"Captain Leno, we are picking up three Dominion ships nearby," reported Jones.

     "I'll be out."

Captain Leno left his ready room and went to the Main Bridge.

     "Status report?" asked Leno.

"Three Dominion ships are coming toward us," answered Jones.

     "I'll take over."

Lieutenant Commander Jones moved for Captain Leno to sit down at his station.  He activated Red alert and began attacking the Dominion ships.

"We have cleared the Dominion ships," stated Ensign Murphy.

Lieutenant Commander Jones returned to his position.

"How much longer before we arrive?" asked Leno.

     "Forty-two minutes," answered Murphy.

"I'll be back in a few minutes."

     "Why is being so secret?"

"There's a few things he can't discuss with us," answered Commander Brooks.

"Like the Omega Directive," stated Jones.

"What do you know about it," asked Ensign Wilson.

"Just that it is a powerful, unstable molecule," answered Jones.

     "How do you know that?"

"From a shuttle mission about six years ago."

"You need to tell Captain Leno what you know about this Omega," ordered Brooks.

Lieutenant Commander Jones went to Captain Leno's ready room.

     "Come in," answered Leno.

"I need to talk to you about Omega."

"What do you know about Omega?"

"That it is a highly unstable and very powerful molecule," answered Jones.

     "How did you find out?"

"During a shuttle mission six years ago."

     "Have you told anyone?"

     "Just the bridge crew."

     "What did you tell them?"

     "Just what I told you."

"Don't tell anyone else.  You really don't know much about Omega.  Dismissed."

Lieutenant Commander Jones returned to his station on the Main Bridge.

"Captain, we have arrived to the coordinates," reported Murphy, over the comm system.

     "Captain Leno contacted Admiral Hayes.

"We have arrived to the coordinates."

"You have a lot of work to do."

"How much longer before the other ship arrives?"

     "Twenty-seven more hours."

"I hope I can get rid of it by then."

"I do too.  Keep me informed."

Captain Leno returned to the Main Bridge.

Lieutenant Ben Leno's Personal Log Stardate: 51721.3

My dad has been acting crazy.  He hasn't talked to me in two days. I'm going to go visit him.

Lieutenant Ben Leno went to the Main Bridge.

"I'm here to see my dad," stated Ben Leno.

"Good luck.  He's been locked in there for hours," stated Brooks.

     "Come in," stated Leno.

"What are you doing?" asked Ben Leno.

"Just looking at some sensor readings."

"We haven't talked in a few days."

     "I've been busy."

     "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine.  I have a lot of work to do."

     "Get some rest."

     "I will soon."

"I have to get back to engineering."

     "I'll see you later."

Ben Leno returned to Main Engineering.  Captain Leno got back to work.

"Computer, status of the Omega molecules," requested Leno.

"Four Omega molecules have been detected," answered the computer.

     "What is their location?"

     "Less than 300,000 kilometers."

Captain Leno went to Main Engineering.

"Lieutenant Commander Hall, I need to speak with you," stated Leno.

"Yes, captain," stated Hall, stepping out of his office.

"I need multiphasic shielding around the warp core and a shuttle that can withstand extreme thermal stress," ordered Leno.

Chapter 2

Lieutenant Commander Hall began to work on the tasks given to him by Captain Leno.  It took him 11 hours.

"Captain, the multiphasic shielding around the warp core and the shuttle are ready," stated Hall.

"I'll going to check out the shuttle," stated Leno.

Captain Leno went to the shuttlebay.  He looked over the shuttle.  he began working on a torpedo to destroy the Omega molecules.

"Captain, Admiral Hayes wants to talk with you," stated Brooks.

"Tell him I'll be there in a few minutes."

Captain Leno went back to his ready room.  He turned on his desktop computer.

"I'll be ready to go in about an hour," stated Leno.

     "How many minutes?"

"About 20.  Sensors have located only four molecules."

"The ship is still 13 hours away,"

     "I have to finish up."

"Starfleet Command expects about 11 light-years of sub-space may be destroyed if you fail."

Captain Leno finished up the torpedo.  He loaded it into the shuttle.  He then went to talk to Commander Brooks.

"I'm going to leave for a few hours on a mission.  I should be back in six or seven hours.  A Starfleet ship has been sent to help me.  You're in charge until I get back," stated Leno.

     "Good luck," stated Brooks.

Captain Leno boarded the shuttle and left the ship.  He set a course for the Omega molecules.

"Omega molecules have been located 200,000 kilometers from current position," stated the computer.

"Computer, begin Omega Directive," ordered Leno.

"Omega molecules, 110,000 kilometers from current position," reported the computer.

"Computer, load the torpedo," ordered Leno.

"Omega molecules, 80,000 kilometers from current position," reported the computer.

"Lock onto the coordinates of the Omega molecules," ordered Leno.

"Coordinates locked.  Thermal stress is increasing.  Omega molecules, 50,000 kilometers from current position."

The shuttle continued approaching the four Omega molecules.

"Thermal stress nearing critical levels.  Omega molecules 25,000 kilometers from current position."

"Computer, fire torpedo.  Go to maximum impulse."

     "Thermal stress levels at critical."

     "Scan for the Omega molecules."

     "No Omega molecules detected."

"Computer, set a course for the Texas, Warp 2," ordered Leno.

A few minutes later, Captain Leno arrived back to the Texas.  He went to his ready room.

"Computer, cancel Omega Directive," ordered Leno.

"Omega Directive canceled.  Resume other missions," stated the computer.

"Captain, Admiral Hayes is hailing," stated Jones.

"I'll take it on my ready room."

"Have you destroyed Omega?" asked Brinks.

"I did it about an hour ago."

"The California was damaged while crossing through the Dominion ships.  It had to return to Starbase 219."

"How long before it returns to service?"

     "About two weeks."

"I have a few more things to complete."

"I'll need your full report in two weeks."

"We're going to deliver the medical supplies to Poly, then stop by Starbase 129," stated Leno.

"That will be fine," answered Hayes.

Captain's Log Stardate: 51729.4

We have arrived to Poly.  We will deliver the medical supplies in a few minutes.

"Captain, we will be ready to transport the supplies very soon," reported Doctor Donald.

"Thank you, Keith.  I'll be down in a few minutes," answered Leno.

Captain Leno went to the Cargobay located on Deck 13.

"We are ready to transport the supplies," stated Donald.

     "Proceed," answered Leno.

"The medical supplies have been successfully transported to the surface," reported Lieutenant Baker.

Captain's Log Stardate: 51731.2

We have transported the medical supplies to Poly.  We have set a course for Starbase 139.  We will arrive in a few days.

Captain Leno went to his ready room.  He contacted President Laos.

"Thank you for the medical supplies.  We have been unable to produce all the supplies we need with the disease going around," stated Laos.

"Another supply ship should arrive in one week with more."

"The disease should be wiped out in a few more weeks."

"The supplies we sent down should last at least two weeks."

"I have to go and unload the supplies."

"Good luck out wiping out the disease."

"We will get rid of it."

The Texas continued on their course to Starbase 139.

"Captain, we are arriving to the starbase," reported Murphy.

Captain Leno went to talk to Admiral Hayes.

"Here's my final report," stated Leno.

"I'll have it sealed once I overlook it.  Your request for the crew to have a week of leave has been granted," stated Hayes.

"Thank you.  After what I've put them through, they need it," stated Leno.

     "Dismissed," stated Hayes.
